The first two training exercises will help your pup learn that paying attention to you is a good thing and will build a strong positive association with hearing his name, both of which are very important when you're training and in daily life.

Name Game
Say your pups name once, happily and only once, when he looks to you, CLICK, then toss treat. Don’t ruin your recall.. use their name ONLY with good things like walks, treats, play, training time, etc.

Attention
This is a great exercise that teaches your dog that looking at /checking in with you is a wonderful thing to do!  It's also a good exercise to start your training .

Touch (aka Hand Targeting)
You will find that this is a very valuable tool to have as time goes on.  We are always telling pups where to go and this way they start following your hand so you are able to direct them.   It is also great to use for a recall, and even to bring them back to your side when you’re walking.  I’m sure you’ll find other ways for it to come in “handy”

Capturing Sit
Capturing is a fun way to train.  All you have to do is wait for your puppy to do the behavior you're working on.
Without saying a word, watch your puppy and wait for him to sit. As soon as his rear hits the ground, CLICK, then toss the treat. When your puppy comes back and does it again, CLICK, then toss the treat. It is just like the Attention exercise only with a sit instead.  Do not say anything, do not stare at your puppy, just wait for the sit.

Capturing Down

The video link below is for capturing down, it is exactly the same principle as capturing sit, and shows how to capture the behavior and when to add the cue.
